Farm business updates kick off next week

Grain Central, August 31, 2016

GRAIN growers across the eastern seaboard are invited to attend a series of Farm Business Updates next week which will focus on the drivers beyond yield in an agronomy business.

Kicking off in Dubbo, NSW, on September 5, Updates will also be held in Goondiwindi, Qld, on September 7, Horsham, Vic, on September 7 and Tamworth, NSW, on September 8.

A new element of the programs this year, the ‘dashboard,’ aims to set the scene for other presentations and discussions at the event, defining key aspects of the ‘business operating environment’ for farm businesses engaged in grains production in the local region.

The dashboard will ensure participants at the event can consider presentations during the day in the context of the local farm business environment, with presentations promoting discussion both during the formal sessions and informal discussion between participants throughout the day.

The NSW/Qld Updates will hear from speakers including Richard Heath from the Australian Farm Institute, Simon Fritsch of Agripath, Lindsey Bell from CSIRO and Natasha Searle from Rural Directions. Topics will include farm business scale, optimising performance of cropping systems and how to get the best from your management team.

At the Horsham Update, participants will have the opportunity to hear presentations from Brad Knight from GeoCommodities, Matt Bryant from AgProfit, Greg Kuchel from Rural Bank, and David Bone from ORM. Topics will include planning for the 2016 harvest, driving profits and managing inputs, land value trends, Big Data and investing in labour efficiency.
