DELIVERIES to GrainCorp in the week to today of 1.76 million tonnes (Mt) have lifted the intake for eastern Australia’s major bulk handler to 5.16Mt, according to GrainCorp’s latest Harvest Update.
“Harvest activity is beginning to wrap up across Queensland, with predominantly wheat and chickpeas
remaining in southern areas,” the update said.
“The Goondiwindi district saw hot and dry conditions last week which allowed for significant progress to be made with harvest.”
“Northern NSW growers benefited from predominantly dry conditions last week, with good progress made across all regions and deliveries of canola, barley, chickpeas and wheat coming through the gates.”
Receivals in southern NSW are showing good quality amid clear weather, which has allowed activity to increase, with canola and wheat being the main commodities delivered across the region.
“We expect harvest activity to build in southern areas in the week ahead.”
In Victoria, several sites began taking deliveries last week, but some weather events slowed the initial start.
“Weather is looking mostly clear over the coming week which should see increased activity across the region; canola and barley quality is looking good.”
