A CLOUDBAND extending from north-western Australia towards south-eastern Australia drew tropical moisture inland and brought widespread rainfall across most of the country.

Several cold fronts crossed southern Australia during the week, generating widespread rainfall and below-average temperatures.

A low-pressure system off the north-eastern New South Wales coast brought several days of moderate to localised heavy rainfall.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm were recorded across a large area of the Northern Territory and extending across the Western Australia and South Australia border, isolated pockets of the Kimberley district in Western Australia, western Tasmania, and eastern parts of NSW and surrounding south-eastern Queensland.

Weekly rainfall totals of 50-100mm were recorded in areas of the southern NT, and the NSWs central and northern coasts, with falls greater than 100mm in isolated pockets of the Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers districts in NSW.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 286mm at Promised Land at Bellingen’s Crystal Creek in NSW.

The highest daily rainfall total at a Bureau gauge was 136mm at Rosebank, Repentance Creek in NSW, in the 24 hours to 9am on September 29.
