EARLY in the week, a cold front in the Great Australian Bight with a low-pressure trough extending through the interior moved eastward, triggering storms and extensive rainfall across parts of the interior and eastern half of the country.
During the week, humid conditions associated with a series of low-pressure troughs triggered storms, some severe, and widespread rainfall over the interior, and parts of eastern and south-western Australia.
Weekly rainfall totals greater than 25mm were recorded across northern Australia and large parts of inland and eastern Australia.
Weekly rainfall totals of 50-100mm were recorded across parts of northern Australia, southern Queensland, western Tasmania, north-eastern Victoria and inland areas of New South Wales.

The highest daily total at a Bureau gauge was 158mm at Highbury Station in Qld in the 24 hours to 9am on December 4.
