Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 8 February 2023

Bureau of Meteorology, February 8, 2023

A SLOW-MOVING surface low trough brought heavy falls and thunderstorms across eastern New South Wales, and eastern and central Queensland.

Weekly totals greater than 100mm were recorded in the tropical north of Australia, with weekly totals of more than 300mm recorded in some pockets.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 310mm at Yabulu Qld Nickel in Queensland, while the highest daily total at Bureau gauge was 130mm at Queensland’s Menavale Alert to 9am on February 5.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm were recorded across much of Australia, except for southern Western Australia, most of South Australia and western NSW.

Flood conditions are generally easing across the country; a Major flood warning remains for the Darling River.
