FOUR grain storage sites are up for sale in the Cowra region of Central West New South Wales, presenting growers with the chance to expand storage capacity.

Cowra business owners Ashley and Lex Webster are selling the sites as part of a move to consolidate their operations.

The facilities, named Billimari Silos, Woodstock Silos & Weighbridge, Glen Logan Silos and Holmwood Silos, were formerly part of the GrainCorp network.

It is believed the sites were offloaded during GrainCorp’s Project Regeneration around a decade ago, which saw roughly 70 small, ageing, or remote grain receival sites closed, sold or leased.

Since acquiring the sites, the Websters have leased the facilities to various companies.

Outside of owning these facilities, the Websters are well known to NSW grain growers as owners of the Geronimo Farm Equipment business which has branches at Cowra and Walgett, and distribution centres at Condobolin, Gilgandra, and Moree.

The pair is also believed to own a substantial grain silo complex at Cowra.

Ray White Rural Young, Harden & Boorowa agent James Brown, has the listing for the four sites, which he said offered an inexpensive grain-storage option to local growers.

“For a grain grower, it’s bloody cheap grain-handling,” Mr Brown said.

“I think local growers would be mad not to have a crack at them for the price.

“If you had to go build that infrastructure now, it would be millions of dollars.”

Mr Brown said the facilities would also suit investors or businesses that were in the market for an architecturally unique holding.

“I believe they are quite architectural…you don’t see that sort of thing any more; it’s quite old-school.”

Site details

The largest site, located in the village of Woodstock 20km north-east of Cowra, features 4200 tonnes of shed storage and 800t of silo storage, as well as a weighbridge.

Situated on 1.2ha across two titles, the Woodstock site has an asking price of $380,000.

For sale for $75,000, the Holmwood Silos facility is located 15km north-east of the Cowra CBD and comes with 2400t of silo storage.

It sites on a 4600m2 site and is positioned on the Mid Western Highway.

Also being marketed for $75,000 is the Glen Logan Silos, a 2500m2 block 10km north of the Cowra CBD which comes with 1600t of silo storage.

Located in the village of Billimari 20km north of Cowra, is the Billimari Silos site, which features 2400t of silo storage.

The facility sits on a 2500-square-metre block and is being offered for $150,000.
