ADAMA recalls batches of pre-emergent herbicide

Grain Central June 16, 2025

ADAMA AUSTRALIA has announced a voluntary recall of certain batches of its Tenet 500 SC herbicide after tests revealed the product could cause damage to canola crops.

Tenet 500 SC is a pre-emergent herbicide registered for pre-sowing application in canola for the control of key annual grass and broadleaf weeds.

The recall notice, published on Thursday, stated that the impacted products were sold by agricultural retailers in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales between January 15 and June 10.

Only the 20l and 1000l pack size have potentially been impacted.

“This recall is precautionary to prevent potential impact on farmers and our customers,” the notice said.

“The recall is due to a quality issue identified in the affected batches, with levels of residual impurities detected above ADAMA’s acceptable limits.

“These residual impurities may result in unacceptable levels of phytotoxicity when applied to canola.

“The recall is issued to prevent further adverse experiences with the affected batches.”

The impacted batch numbers specified in the release include: 41962, 41963, 42073, 42084, 42098, 42113, 42141, 42293, 42313, 42337 and 42344.

The company has requested that customers coordinate the return of the product with their ADAMA representative.

It also called on sellers to “also contact their growers to return it to the place of purchase”.

“ADAMA will endeavour to provide replacement Tenet 500 SC from batches that meet our specifications.”

Regulatory body, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority also published a statement on its website regarding the product recall.

The statement recommended that growers “quarantine containers” of the affected chemicals before arranging for collection and refund.
