AMONG the holdings on offer in Western Australia’s southern zones are Altora Ag’s Waddikee Aggregation, and Fairdale near Ongerup.

Waddikee Aggregation

Canadian-backed Altora Ag is putting another large-scale cropping aggregation on the market, this time in Western Australia’s Goldfields-Esperance region.

The Waddikee Aggregation spans 7719ha across three holdings – 3690ha Waddikee West near West River and the adjoining 2009ha Dunn Rock and the 2019ha Ellarwie which are 20km north-west of Waddikee West.

Purchased by the corporate farmer in 2018, the highly improved cropping enterprise is located 30km north-west of Ravensthorpe.

Around 6431ha is arable and typically grows wheat, canola and barley in a 308mm to 360mm average annual rainfall region.

Last month, Altora Ag announced plans to sell 4231ha of cropping country in the Quandialla district of New South Wales.

Spanning seven properties, the sale will reduce Caringbah Farms by 41 percent from the current total of 10,292ha.
Elders agents Simon Thomas and Simon Cheetham have been appointed to sell the Waddikee Aggregation via expressions of interest closing on June 4.

The three properties comprise:

Waddikee West 3690ha with 3242ha arable. It is watered by multiple dams. Infrastructure includes a three-bedroom home, rainwater tanks, numerous sheds, and eight grain silos.

Dunn Rock: 2009ha with 1721ha arable. It is watered by multiple dams and has numerous sheds.

Ellarwie: 2019ha with 1468ha arable. It is watered by multiple dams. Infrastructure includes water tanks, seven silos and numerous sheds.

According to Mr Thomas, the well-managed farms have had good rain which promises a great start to the season.

“The Waddikee Aggregation delivers scale, diversity, proven productivity, favourable
soil profiles, and reliable water supply,” Mr Thomas said.

“The turnkey offering represents an exceptional opportunity for investors, corporate farming entities or progressive family operators seeking a high-quality aggregation with immediate operational capacity and future growth potential.

The properties are underpinned by light to medium-textured soil profiles, primarily sand over clay and sand over gravel formations.

EM38 and Gamma Radiometric mapping have been completed, with significant and ongoing soil amelioration across Dunn Rock and Ellarwie.

The Waddikee Aggregation has substantial infrastructure, extensive gravel road networks and excellent water capacity.

Fairdale

An $11.3M price guide is being offered for a well-managed farm in WA’s Great Southern region.

The 1574ha Fairdale near Ongerup has been owned and operated by the Stanich family since 1988 and is being sold due to a business restructure.

Historically, the property has operated as a mixed sheep and cropping enterprise, with recent rotations including a 50:50 split of barley and fodder crops, including oats and vetch.

Ray White Rural agent Kate Jefferies said the farm layout, fencing configuration and management mean Fairdale is equally suited to a mixed operation or a 100-percent cropping program.

“Fairdale is offered with minimal infrastructure, making it ideally suited to local or neighbouring operators with existing facilities nearby.”

The farm has six open, easy-working paddocks, a central internal roadway and dams with well-contoured catchments.

Recent investment includes extensive new fencing and EM38 mapping.

Around 400 tonnes of lime and 1200t of gypsum have been spread across the farm, with an additional 500t of lime available.

Fairdale is being offered for sale via offers to purchase.
