
PARTS of the New South Wales, Western Australian and southern Queensland grainbelt received substantial rain in the week to today.
In eastern Tasmania, moist onshore flow on May 27-28 resulted in widespread rainfall totals of 25-50mm and locally higher in east-facing elevated areas.
a low off the east coast interacting with an inland trough produced high rainfall in the south-east of Qld, and in NSW on May 28-30, with weekly rainfall totals of 15mm to locally more than 100mm near parts of the coast.
A cold front followed by a deep low-pressure system south of WA brought strong winds and showers, leading to weekly rainfall totals of 15mm to more than 50mm along the west coast.
During the week, cold fronts brought light to moderate rainfall across parts of south-eastern Australia, producing weekly rainfall totals of 5-50mm, with locally higher falls, in parts of South Australia, much of Victoria into southern and inland NSW, and in western Tasmania.
The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge of 311mm was recorded at Gray, Dalmayne Rd, Tas, which included the highest daily total of 222mm in the 24 hours to 9am on May 28.
