
DURING the week, a cold front and complex low-pressure system crossed southern Australia and linked up with a cloudband containing moist tropical air, bringing widespread rain, with storms, to the south coast of mainland Australia, western Tasmania, and parts of the interior.
Weekly rainfall totals of 25-100mm, locally higher, were recorded along the south coast of Western Australia, agricultural districts of South Australia, western and northern Tasm, and western, central and alpine regions of Victoria.
Weekly rainfall totals of 10-50mm were recorded in parts of the interior, exceeding monthly averages, including a band in central New South Wales, western Queensland, northern SA and the south of the Northern Territory.
Coastal showers brought weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm, locally higher, for parts of the NSW north-east and the Qld North Tropical Coast.
Unseasonable showers resulted in weekly rainfall of 10-25mm in the Top End of the NT around Darwin.
The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge of 154mm was recorded at Parawa, SA.
The highest daily total at a Bureau gauge of 104mm was recorded at Promised Land in the Crystal Creek district near Bellingen, NSW, in the 24 hours to 9am on June 16.
