INSTITUTIONAL agricultural investor Altora Ag has listed more premium cropping land, this time on the Central Tablelands of New South Wales.
The 2159ha Newry Downs, including the neighbouring properties Glenn Lee and Meadow Vale, is 7km from Lyndhurst and 35km north-east of Cowra.
The aggregation was acquired in November 2011 by the corporate farmer, which is currently being absorbed into Australian Food & Fibre (AFF) – a market-leading cropping company co-owned by PSP Investments, one of Canada’s largest pension funds, and the Robinson family.
The sale campaign follows Altora Ag’s April listing of the Caringbah Farms aggregation in the state’s Central West.
About 81 percent of Newry Downs is arable, with 1760ha currently planted to wheat and canola on fertile red basalt soils and productive loams.
Elders agent Chris Malone said Newry Downs is a standout cropping asset.
“While ideally suited to continued cropping, the property’s scale, water resources and productive farming country provide flexibility for purchasers seeking to incorporate livestock production or pursue a mixed farming operation in the future,” Mr Malone said.
Water is supplied from dams and a bore.
Infrastructure includes a manager’s residence, a second dwelling, a shearing shed, sheep and cattle yards, numerous sheds and grain storage capacity of 10,685 tonnes.
Alongside Mr Malone, Elders agent Ben Redfern is handling the sale through expressions of interest closing on November 25.
Buyers can acquire the aggregation as a whole or in separate parts.
Caringbah Farms Aggregation
Earlier this year, Altora Ag announced plans to scale back its dryland cropping portfolio centred on Quandialla in central western NSW.
The company listed seven properties totalling 4231ha, known as the Caringbah Farms Aggregation, representing a 41 percent reduction in its 10,292ha holding.
Local buyers have since secured around half of the portfolio.
