TWO NEW South Wales grain storage and handling sites have come to market, offering buyers the chance to take over established operations with existing client bases and room for expansion.

Longdarra Grain Services’ site at Barham in the western Riverina district is offered for sale by private treaty, while the Lake Grain Storage Complex at Lake Cargelligo in the Central West region, is for sale by expressions of interest.

A consortium of investors led by Moulamein-based grower Matthew Russ has listed the Longdarra Grain Services facility for sale, following a decision to shift business direction.

The group acquired the site about five years ago from well-known grain and trucking industry figure Marty Cincotta, who died in 2023.

The group also own the Windarra Grain Storage facility at nearby Moulamein, which they purchased following the liquidation of the Moulamein Grain Co-operative Ltd.

Longdarra offers 19,000 tonnes of grain storage capacity across 21 silos, a 60t weighbridge, a grain-sampling station, workshop with truck-service pit, and related facilities.

A range of plant and equipment are also listed with the property, including a number of augers, a telehandler, shipping containers, and out-loading tubeveyors.

In recent times ,the site has handled barley, but has historically stored other crops including rice.

Elders Real Estate Barham agent Jason Telford and Elders Rural Real Estate Deniliquin agent Matt Horne are handling the sale of Longdarra.

Mr Telford said the current owners have invested in the site, including upgrading silos, and adding power to sections of the facility.

He said there was scope to expand with existing approvals in place for additional sheds, and ample space for more silos.

He said the site would also attract interest from buyers with established logistics operations, or those looking to enter the sector.

“Most people who have owned it have had trucks too and worked the site in with their truck business,” Mr Telford said.

Commercial scale at Lake

Also seeking to change direction, Derek and Melissa Davis have put their Lake Grain Storage Complex on the market.

The 1.39ha site is located at Lake Cargelligo in central-west NSW.

It features 15,000t of grain storage across nine silos, a 60t weighbridge, sample stand, office with shower and toilet, and a 58,000-litre fuel tank.

Tyack Henderson Property agent Craig Tyack is managing the listing, and said the Davis family had developed the operation into a successful business, primarily storing wheat and barley for a broad client base.

He said the facility was situated in “the heart of the grain-growing region of central west NSW” and offered an incoming buyer “the perfect opportunity to step into a profitable grain-trading business.”

Mr Tyack said the owners had also listed a neighbouring block separately, which could be purchased alongside Lake Grains to provide further opportunities for expanding the business.

“Someone could put more bunker storage on the bare block or more silos,” Mr Tyack said.
