Weekly rainfall update 1 July 2025 + outlook

A PRE-FRONTAL trough and several cold fronts and low-pressure systems brought rain to southern and south-eastern Australia during the week; these systems were associated with moderate rainfall and isolated heavy falls.

Weekly rainfall totals of 10-50mm were recorded in areas of southern Western Australia, southern parts of South Australia, much of Victoria, southern, inland and eastern parts of New South Wales, and much of Tasmania.

Weekly rainfall totals of 50-100mm were recorded in western and north-eastern Tas and alpine areas of Vic and NSW.

An upper-level trough developed over northern and eastern parts of Queensland triggering a band of rainfall on June 27-29.

Weekly rainfall totals of 10-25mm were recorded in eastern, central and northern parts of Qld, with falls of 25-50mm within these areas.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 176mm at Rocky Valley, Falls Creek in Vic, and the highest daily total at a Bureau gauge was 91mm at Mount Hotham in Vic in the 24 hours to 9am on June 24.
