AUSTRALIAN companies RegenCo and Agronomeye have joined forces to boost the transparency and integrity of Australia’s carbon market and increase understanding about what is occurring across farm landscapes.

The partnership uses a 3D model that allows users to combine data sources such as yield maps, machinery, weather and on-farm sensor data, with ongoing tracking of a landscape using lidar technology.

RegenCo CEO Greg Noonan said the partnership will help improve the integrity of Australia’s carbon credit scheme as called for by the Independent Review of Australian Carbon Credit Units.

“The Chubb review called for greater transparency in Australia’s carbon offset scheme but provided no specific tools or strategies on how to address this,” Mr Noonan said.

“This is the answer the industry has been waiting for.”

“Our partnership will put the farmers in the driver’s seat by supporting decision making, protecting the environment and enhancing productivity and profitability.”

Agronomeye’s CEO Stu Adam said the partnership with RegenCo has been designed for farmers.

“We are both farmer-led organisations that care about the environment and the future of agriculture in
Australia,” Mr Adam said.

“We are thrilled that our technology is helping to improve productivity and environmental outcome for Aussie landholders, by supporting effective decision-making across Australia’s farms.

“We’re also excited about this partnership with RegenCo, taking the uncertainty out of carbon farming and providing further opportunities for farmers to generate revenue streams for their businesses.”

Agronomeye is an Australian agtech start-up, and its Digital Foundation and AgTwin platform creates maps and models of farms in precise detail, and in real time.

Agronomeye’s  technology creates 3D whole-of-farm models that show groundcover, and areas of forest and native vegetation down to the individual tree, along with water flow and topography, and helps farmers identify areas of land that are suitable for carbon farming.

RegenCo works with landholders to identify opportunities for carbon farming and human-induced regeneration.

The partnership’s models provide data on what is already being grown on the land, what areas of the farm are suitable for carbon farming, and what areas cannot be used.

This allows RegenCo to help landholders make informed decisions about how to best engage with the carbon-farming process.

Data updates are regularly provided to users, allowing farmers to measure changes to the landscape, and adding a layer of transparency and integrity to the carbon-trading model.

RegenCo is one of Australia’s leading natural capital businesses, specialising in agricultural productivity, land management and carbon projects.

RegenCo has registered carbon projects across 4 million hectares in three states, and aims to have sequestered tens of millions of tonnes in the coming decade.
