Liz Wells, September 27, 2016

VICTORIAN farmer, Brett Hosking, and grain accumulator and college lecturer, Julia Hausler, have been elected to the Board of GrainGrowers Ltd at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in Albury, NSW, this afternoon.

They fill the two vacancies on the Board for southern region directors.

Mr Hosking, who is a 5th generation grain grower from Quambatook in Victoria’s Mallee, is also president of the Victorian Farmers Federation Grains Group.

He stood on a platform of believing that growers must have a strong voice within the grains industry for all to prosper “as ultimately it is the grower who feels most strongly the impact of any decisions along the supply chain”.

Ms Hausler has had 16 years as a grain producer at Warracknabeal in the Victorian Wimmera region; 10 years as a grain accumulator across four states; and five years in education as a lecturer of Risk Management at Longerenong Agricultural College.

For the past three years she has represented the southern region on the GGL National Policy Group, and for four years has represented the southern region medium rainfall zone on the GRDC regional cropping solutions network.
