New Incitec fertiliser facility at Adelaide

Grain Central February 23, 2018

INCITEC Pivot Fertilisers is set to open its new fertiliser facility in Port Adelaide on Monday.

The $25 million facility on Ocean Steamers Road will be the fertiliser company’s primary storage and despatch point for South Australian dealers and farmers.

The company is moving from its previous site at Port Adelaide where it has been for 100 years.

The new 17,000 square metre complex has the capacity to store 55,000 tonnes of fertilisers.

It is also equipped to fill three trucks with fertilisers simultaneously, using automated overhead conveyors, despatching up to 300 tonnes of fertilisers per hour.

Incitec Pivot Fertilisers president, Jamie Crough, said the company was looking forward to celebrating the official opening with its customers.

“This facility has been designed with dealers, truck drivers and farmers in mind,” he said.

“It will mean better service and faster truck turnaround times, particularly in the peak of the season.”

The new site comes equipped with state of the art facilities to blend fertilisers on site and a dual liquids applicator to apply liquid coatings such as fungicides and trace elements, all under one roof. Fertilisers are available in one tonne bags or bulk.

“The commissioning of the site on Monday will mark the beginning of a new era for Incitec Pivot Fertilisers in South Australia,” Mr Crough said.

Commercial & General built the new facility for Incitec Pivot Fertilisers in just eight months.
