John Deere updates utility vehicle range

Grain Central, August 17, 2016

JOHN DEERE has updated its crossover utility vehicle line-up with the addition of the Gator XUV560 and XUV560 S4.

This mid-size model is outfitted with an ergonomic operator station, V-twin engine, independent four-wheel suspension, four-wheel drive and the availability of more than 60 attachments.

“This update to our Gator family provides even more options for our customers to choose from,” John Deere marketing manager for Gator utility vehicles, Mark Davey, said.

The XUV560 and XUV560 S4 offer easy entry and exit through an occupant protective structure, and safety is a top requirement, with three-point seat belts and side grab handles.

Both models offer sealed under hood storage and feature a large, one-piece cargo box made of material that eliminates rust and dents and reduces noise.

The tailgate features truck-like performance, only requiring one hand for operation and can be opened or removed for easier cleanout or to carry longer items.

The Gator XUV560 and XUV560 S4 come standard with four-wheel independent suspension, providing a smooth ride over challenging terrain and excellent handling through tough corners.

These Gator models are powered by a 570cc V-twin petrol engine, and the carburettor is tuned for rapid throttle response, reliable cold-weather starting, smooth mid-range power delivery and quiet idling. They feature swift acceleration with a top speed of 45 km/h.

Available in a two-seat or four-seat model, the XUV560 can seat a single passenger or a small crowd.

Optional add-ons for the cargo box include a rail system, power lift, wall extensions and a spare tyre rack.

John Deere has also introduced the Gator XUV590i and XUV590i S4 four-passenger crossover utility vehicles powered by a 586cc, 23.8kW (32hp) liquid-cooled inline twin-cylinder petrol engine.

The XUV590i offers 267mm ground clearance, 363kg load capacity and 499kg towing capacity. Likewise, the XUV590i S4 has a 236mm ground clearance, 544 kg load capacity and is capable of towing up to 499kg.

The Gator XUV590i and XUV590i S4 also come standard with an 875 watt, 65 amp alternator to run auxiliary attachments such as lights, winches and sprayers, without the fear of discharging the battery.

The Gator XUV590i and XUV590i S4 feature a large 28-litre fuel tank.

The instrument cluster is backlit and provides critical vehicle information, such as speed, engine RPM, fuel level, coolant temperature and warning lights for information, such as power steering, maintenance reminders and seat belt reminder.
