DELIVERIES to GrainCorp, eastern Australia’s biggest bulk handler, today hit 12.39 million tonnes (Mt), according to its latest Harvest Update.

GrainCorp reports the winter-crop harvest in northern New South Wales is now mostly complete, with final receivals now trickling in.

The trend of exceptional yields has continued across many parts of eastern Australia, and the year-to-date winter-crop receivals have now passed those of 2016-17, which got to 12.3Mt.

Direct-to-port receivals for the year to date stand at 300,000t, and GrainCorp is expecting these to continue into 2021 to possibly rival the 2016-17 figure of 2.4Mt.

Week to 14 Dec Harvest to 14 Dec
Queensland 800 954,700
New South Wales 308,900 8,217,100
Victoria 504,200 3,220,800
TOTAL TONNES 813,900 12,392,600

Sites in north-east Victoria have reached record receivals following capacity expansions at sites including Dookie and Elmore, and Deniliquin and Oaklands in south-west NSW.

Recent rain has improved prospects for the sorghum crop in northern NSW after recent rainfall.

The Victorian harvest will continue into January, and GrainCorp will issue its next harvest report on 4 January.
