DELIVERIES are coming into Bunge’s sites in Western Australia as well as South Australia as harvest pace picks up in both states.

Bunge’s SA network, which includes sites in western Victoria, received its first load for the season on September 24, barley grown by the Chandler family at Charra into Thevenard.

As of Sunday, Bunge had opened 16 of its SA sites for harvest, and received 82,430 tonnes to date, up from 8811t received between September 24 and October 11.

In its October 18 weekly harvest report for SA and western Vic, Bunge said deliveries to sites on Eyre Peninsula accounted for the vast majority of the week’s total, and included first loads at Port Neill, Rudall, Witera, Cummins, Lock, and Tumby Bay.

Bowmans, Roseworthy, Wallaroo, Inner Harbour and Tailem Bend also received their first loads in the week to Sunday.

Barley was the major commodity, with wheat, canola and lentils also delivered across the network.

Bunge’s other WA sites are located at Arthur River and Kukerin.

“We have been working closely with farmers to understand their needs and adapting our services to provide more flexibility and streamline deliveries,” Bunge WA origination manager Rob Haddrill said.

“Our sites are ready to receive grain, supported by new digital services, extended opening hours and investments in canola stackers and classification labs making it easier for farmers to do business with us.”

Bunge will provide 24-hour receivals at its Bunbury port from November 1 to December 23, and extend opening hours to 9pm at the Bunbury bunkers, Arthur River and Kukerin when the peak harvest period starts.

Based on farmer feedback, Bunge has invested in its canola stacker fleet and classification labs and will provide a designated lab and weighbridge for canola deliveries to Bunbury and designated lab for GM canola deliveries to Arthur River.
