MAJOR eastern states bulk handler GrainCorp has released its initial harvest update for 2024-25 showing an intake to today of 667,500 tonnes.
The total comprises 613,000t in Queensland, and 54,500t in New South Wales, with receivals yet to start in Victoria.
In the update, GrainCorp said harvest was under way across Central and southern Qld, with chickpeas, wheat and barley being delivered into sites around Mt McLaren, Yamala, Meandarra and Goondiwindi.
“Overall, the quality of commodities has been excellent,” the report said.
“In northern NSW, deliveries of mainly canola and barley are coming into the Burren Junction, Moree and Dubbo regions, with activity expected to build again in the coming week following some rain events.
“Further south in NSW, sites in the Griffith region have begun receiving samples.
“Many growers in these regions are preparing for harvest by windrowing their canola crops.”
GrainCorp is encouraging growers to stay in regular contact with their local site managers for the latest
information regarding deliveries and segregations, and is still actively recruiting and training casual workers for harvest in NSW and Victoria.
