GROWERS in eastern Australia have delivered 826,900 tonnes to GrainCorp’s up-country sites in the past week, according to GrainCorp’s weekly Harvest Update released today.

This takes the bulk handler’s receivals for the harvest to date to 2.39 million tonnes.

“Winter harvest activity is winding down in Central Queensland, while southern Queensland remains in full swing,” GrainCorp said in today’s update.

“Recent rainfall caused some short-term delays, but operations have picked up again as growers make the most of the clear weather conditions.”

In northern New South Wales, GrainCorp said deliveries of canola, barley and wheat ramped up across the region, particularly in the Moree and Burren Junction districts.

“Strong delivery volumes continued despite some intermittent rain delays.”

In southern NSW, GrainCorp receivals have steadily increased across the northern and western parts of the region, with the first loads of wheat delivered in the Parkes and Condobolin districts.

“In Victoria, the first deliveries of wheat commenced in the north-west region,  complementing early barley receivals from the Northern Mallee and Swan Hill regions.

“Across southern NSW and Victoria, activity is expected to build steadily over the coming week, although forecasted rain may temporarily slow progress in some areas.”
