Man airlifted after becoming trapped in farm machinery

Grain Central, April 7, 2021

THE Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) crew yesterday airlifted an injured man after his arm became trapped in an auger on a farm near Billa Billa near Goondiwindi in southern Queensland.

It’s believed the man managed to free himself from the machinery before Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics arrived.

The LifeFlight SGAS chopper was called to the scene at around 10.15 in the morning.

The aeromedical team worked with QAS paramedics to treat the man for injuries to both arms, before he was flown to a Western Downs airport in a serious but stable condition.

The man, aged in his 30s, was then transferred to a Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) plane to be flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Brisbane.
