NUTRIEN Ag Solutions has reached a major milestone with its West Coast Bulk Fertiliser Facility now operational, strengthening long-term bulk fertiliser capacity for growers across Western Australia.

The new $70-million long-term leased facility further strengthens Nutrien’s west coast supply chain, delivering a purpose-built solution that improves long-term reliability and service for farmers across the west ahead of peak seasonal demand.

Nutrien Ag Solutions managing director Adrian Capogreco said the completion of the facility underscores Nutrien’s commitment to Australian growers.

“This investment demonstrates of our confidence in Western Australian agriculture,” Mr Capogreco said.

“In February 2024, an industrial fire at the Kwinana Bulk Jetty precinct severely damaged our previous facility.

“We were able to minimise disruption for customers by securing storage and transport routes, and we made a conscious decision to build bigger and better -that’s what we’re seeing today.”

Mr Capogreco said the expanded 130,000-tonne facility eases some of the pressure on long and complex supply chains.

Resilience

“Agricultural supply chains are complex, spanning regions, seasons, and markets with so many moving parts that don’t always work seamlessly together.

“The industry is constantly navigating disruptions, from weather events to global market volatility.

“This means we must remain agile, build resilience, and remain focused on doing everything we can for our growers.

“Investments like this don’t prevent global disruptions, but an approximate 20 percent increase in our bulk storage for Western Australia strengthens long-term supply chain resilience.”

Nutrien Ag Solutions West region director, Andrew Duperouzel, said the project has been delivered just two years after the 2024 industrial fire.

“Facilities like this allow us to continue putting farmers at the heart of what we do,” Mr Duperouzel said.

“Ultimately, this is about backing farmers with the infrastructure and investment they need to plan with increased confidence for the many seasons ahead.

“Western Australian farmers operate in one of the most demanding environments in the country.

“This facility will help ensure they have timely access to essential fertiliser inputs, which is critical to productivity and on‑farm decision‑making.”
