GROWERS delivered 288,580 tonnes into Viterra’s network in the three weeks to January  5 to take total 2024-25 harvest deliveries to 3,239,644t.

The figure is well down on the comparable 2023-24 figure of 5,411,487t to reflect the extremely dry South Australian growing season.

Wheat made up around three quarters of deliveries in the three weeks to January 5, and Eastern region sites received close to half of total tonnes during the period.

“Many growers have now wrapped up for the season, and in areas where growers are still finishing up, we have sites open or available by appointment,” Viterra general manager operations Gavin Cavanagh said.

“Over the past three weeks we have been shipping from Port Lincoln, Outer Harbor, Inner Harbour, Wallaroo and Port Giles,” Gavin says.

“This includes the first 2024-25 shipment from our Adelaide ports during December, and kicking off the new year with our first vessel for the season loaded at Port Giles.

Viterra has now loaded over 400,000t of current-crop grain on to vessels.

“We have more shipments booked across all of our port terminals to connect South Australian grain to international markets.

“As part of our upcoming shipping we are looking forward to loading the first vessel at Thevenard, which is expected to begin later this week, and means 2024-25 shipping will be underway at all Viterra ports.”

Viterra will now issue its receivals report monthly from February 4.
