Emma Alsop joins Grain Central editorial team

Grain Central, February 16, 2022

Emma Alsop

THE Grain Central, Beef Central and Sheep Central editorial teams are delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Alsop to the editorial team.

Based in Toowoomba, Emma will primarily be writing for Grain Central, initially covering the cropping and mixed-farming property markets nationally, and cotton and sorghum, as well as writing news and feature stories.

Born at Inglewood in the Goondiwindi region and growing up predominantly in Dalby on Queensland’s Western Downs, Emma has a love for rural communities and a keen interest in the agriculture industry.

She completed her journalism studies at the University of Southern Queensland in 2014 and, after a short stint living in Brisbane, moved back to the Darling Downs in 2015.

Emma started her journalism career working for small independent newspapers in townships across the Toowoomba region, and spent five years covering the issues affecting the community of Oakey.

She is passionate about the farming sector and is eager to learn more about issues that impact grain growers and businesses as well as the innovations these producers are implementing to combat the ever-changing face of the industry.

Emma will be working closely with Grain Central editor Liz Wells, who has stepped into the role following the retirement of Neil Lyon in December.

If you want to say hello or have a story to share, give her a call on 0499 265 630 or email [email protected]
