Australian wheat exports climb 24pc over January to 895,080t

AUSTRALIA exported 895,080 tonnes of wheat in January, up 24 per cent from 719,401t shipped in December, according to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

In the bulk market, The Philippines with 119,720t was the biggest buyer, ahead of Korea, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Indonesia, traditionally Australia’s biggest volume wheat buyer, ranked sixth in bulk export in January.

In containerised exports, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia were the biggest customers by volume.
