COLD fronts and associated troughs brought scattered showers and isolated storms to parts of the southern interior of Western Australia, eastern New South Wales, southern regions of Victoria and western Tasmania.

Persistent low-pressure troughs extending across the interior and the west coast, triggered storms and scattered rainfall over northern Australia, and inland regions of Western Australia.

Most of the country recorded less than 5mm of rainfall during the week, although 10-25mm was recorded across inland parts of WA and the north-west coast, northern regions of the Northern Territory, isolated pockets of NSW and Queensland coasts and in western Tas.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm were recorded in northern regions of the NT, isolated coastal regions in northern and central WA, and north-western and south-eastern regions of Cape York Peninsula, Qld.

Weekly rainfall totals greater than 50 mm were recorded along coastal regions of the Daly and Arnhem districts of the Northern Territory and a coastal region between Cape Melville and Cooktown in Qld.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 83mm at Thorak Cemetery in the NT.

The highest daily total at a Bureau gauge was 70mm at Moreton Telegraph Station in Qld in the 24 hours to 9am on February 26.
