Weekly rainfall update 6 May 2025 + outlook

Bureau of Meteorology May 6, 2025

SCATTERED showers with isolated storms and locally heavy rainfall driven by coastal low-pressure troughs and onshore flow impacted coastal regions of New South Wales, Queensland and eastern Victoria.

Cold fronts and associated low-pressure troughs brought scattered showers across southern Western Australia, southern regions of South Australia, Vic and Tasmania.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm were recorded across most of eastern coastal regions and pockets in the south-west region of WA and south-eastern Vic.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms impacted northern Australia.

Weekly rainfall totals of 50-200mm were recorded across Arnhem land in the Northern Territory and the south-east Cape York Peninsula coast.

Much of Australia did not record any rain during the week as high-pressure systems brought settled weather conditions.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 190mm at Coconut Island in Qld, which included the highest daily total at a Bureau gauge of 136mm in the 24 hours to 9am on May 3.
