EX-TROPICAL Cyclone Gabrielle transitioned to an extratropical system after moving over Norfolk Island; Severe Tropical Cyclone Freddy continued tracking south-west of Christmas Island with no threat to Western Australia.
Weekly totals greater than 100mm were recorded over parts of northern Australia with some pockets of more than 200mm in northern Queensland and the Top End.
The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 427mm in Queensland’s Whyanbeel Valley, which included 295mm in the 24 hours to 9am on February 10
Major flood warning for the Darling River in New South Wales and Cooper Creek in Queensland are in place. Moderate and minor flooding continued in other catchments in Queensland and NSW.
