Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 20 September 2023

A STRONG cold front crossed western and southern Western Australia mid-week, bringing widespread rain. Busselton Aero recorded the highest daily rainfall total at a Bureau gauge of 91mm to 9am on September 13 as well as the highest weekly rainfall total at a Bureau gauge of 116mm.

During the week, easterly airflow brought showers to parts of the Queensland coast.

Weekly totals of 25-100mm were recorded across western Tasmania.

Weekly totals up to 50 mm were recorded across western and southern WA, with isolated rainfall totals of 50-100mm along the south-west coast.

Weekly totals greater than 10mm, with isolated pockets of 25-50mm, were recorded in the northern districts of Queensland.

Most of Australia received little to no rainfall during the week.
