Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 27 September 2023

Bureau of Meteorology September 27, 2023

A COLD front crossed south-eastern Australia on September 19-20, bringing showers mostly to western Tasmania; another cold front moved over southern Australia at the end of the week, with little rainfall.

Easterly on-shore airflow resulted in showers for parts of the north-east coast.

Much of western and southern Tas and a small area on the Queensland’s Northern Tropical Coast had weekly totals of more than 50mm for the week.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge of 120mm was recorded at Topaz Alert, Qld; the highest daily rainfall total during the week of 66mm was recorded at Warra, Tas, to 9am on September 20.

Weekly totals greater than 15mm were recorded in western and southern Tas, parts of southern and north-eastern Victoria and the Northern Tropical Coast in Qld.

Most of Australia received little to no rainfall during the week.
