SEVERAL cold fronts crossed the south-west of Western Australia, Tasmania and southern Victoria during the week and brought showers.
Easterly on-shore airflow resulted in showers for parts of the east coast.
Weekly rainfall totals greater than 15mm were recorded in western and northern Tas, parts of north-eastern Vic, south-eastern New South Wales, the Northern Tropical Coast in Queensland, and in pockets of south-eastern South Australia and north-western Vic.
Most of western Tasmania and pockets of Qld’s Northern Tropical Coast had weekly rainfall totals of more than 25mm, and an area in Tasmania’s north-west recorded more than 50mm for the week.
The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge of 73mm was recorded at Lake Margaret Dam, Tas; the highest daily rainfall total during the week of 40mm was recorded at Topaz Alert, Qld, to 9am on August 26.
Most of Australia received little to no rain during the week.
