Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 5 July 2023

A RAINFALL band which stretched across north-west into south-eastern Australia brought high weekly rainfall totals, with many daily and weekly records in northern and central Australia and western Queensland.

Weekly totals of 50-100mm fell in the Kimberley district of Western Australia, much of the Northern Territory, western Queensland and western Tasmania, with some pockets receiving more than 100mm.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm along northern WA, central and southern NT, northern South Australia, and western Tas.

Weekly totals of 10-50mm fell along the path of the rain band, as well as in southern WA.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 216mm at Mount Read, Tas.

The highest daily total at a Bureau gauge was 101mm at New May Downs, Qld, to 9am on July 3.
