Weekly rainfall update + rain outlook 8 November 2023

A LOW-PRESSURE trough brought humid and unstable air to coastal New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland, with showers and thunderstorms resulting in weekly totals of 25-100mm and locally higher totals along the NSW South Coast.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25-50mm were recorded in the northern Kimberley of Western Australia and adjoining areas of the Northern Territory from storms overnight on November 6.

Isolated weekly rainfall totals of 10-25 mm were recorded in other parts of northern Australia from storm activity.

Weekly rainfall totals of 10-25mm were recorded in western Tasmania and parts of southern Victoria from the passage of a cold front at the start of the week.

Little to no rainfall was recorded during the week elsewhere in southern Australia.

The highest weekly total at a Bureau gauge was 183mm at Bellambi, NSW, and included the highest daily total of 155mm in the 24 hours to 9am on November 5.
